Notice of Race
Virgin Islands Laser Championships
November 24-26, 2006
Christinasted, St. Croix, USVI
1. RULES
1.1 The Organizing authority is the Virgin Islands Laser Association.
1.2 The event will be governed by the "Racing Rules of sailing RRS" and the prescription of the US SAILING appropriate class rules, except as ammended by this Notice of Race, and by the Sailing Instructions.
2. ADVERTISING
2.1 Advertising will be restricted to Category "C" event.
3. EIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The Virgin Islands Laser Championship is open to all eligible sailboats in the following classes: Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, and Laser Standard.
3.2 A minimum of four boats for each class is required to constitute a class.
3.3 Entries will be accepted through the on-line website at www.vilaser.com and must be recieved by 5 p.m. Friday, November24th, 2006.
3.4 On site registration will take place at the Race Headquarters located at the Main Office of Jones Maritime Co. Late entries will be accpted on-site on Friday, November 24th from 6 p.m. untill 8 p.m.
3.5 Entries will not be considered complete unless accompanied by the appropriate fee and Wavier Form and VI Laser Association Membership or proof of membership by a recognized Laser association.
3.6 Mandatory check-in fo all sailors from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 24th, 2006 at the Race Headquarters, Sailors failing to check-in will not be scored.
3.7 Each sailor shall submit the Waiver which is on-line as part of the registration process. Sailors registering in person must sign a waiver which will be made available during Registration.
3.8 Minors sailing in the Ragatta must print the "Medical Wavier" from the website and have parent/guardian signature on it at the time of sailing. the "Medical Waiver" form will also be available at Registration
4. FEES
4.1 Entry fee of $65.00 for all Classes. Payment may be made by check payable to Virgin Islands Laser Association or by credit card.
5. SCHEDULE
5.1 Races will be held on Saturday, November 25th and Sunday, November 26th, 2006.
5.2 Each race course and the number of daily races will be determined by the Race Committee on each day. It is the intent of Organizing Authority and Race Committee to conduct as many races as practical on each day of racing.
5.3 The scheduled time of warning signal for the first race on Satuday is 10 a.m. and on Sunday is 10 a.m.
5.4 No warning signal will be hoisted after 1600 hours on Saturday, November25th. On Sunday, November 26th, no warning signal will be hoisted after 1500 hours.
6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
6.1 Sailing instructions and courses to be sailed will be handed out at the time of registration on Friday, November 24th, 2006.
7. PENALTY SYSTEM
7.1 RRS 44.1 and 44.2 shall apply to all classes.
8. SCORING
8.1 RRS A4 Low Scoring System will apply.
8.2 A minimum of three (3) races shall constitute a series.
8.3 If a minimum of 7 races are completed for all classes, one throw out will be allowed. Two races may be discarded if a class completes ten or more races.
9. PRIZES
9.1 Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place boats in each class for the series.
9.2 A Sportsmanship Trophy will be presented by Magic Marine, nominated by the Regatta Committee to the sailor that be exemplifies sportsmanship.
9.3 The top (3) masters will be awarded a prize, as well as the top Junior sailor and top Female sailor.
10. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
10.1 Competitors participate in the Regatta entierly at their own risk. The Organizing Authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
